Can you help me choose please.
Take a look at Sony FDR-AX33 4K Ultra HD Handycam Camcorder. The price is around 800$
Another choice would be the Sony FDR-AX53 4K Ultra HD Handycam Camcorder and you can view a complete review at http://epfilms.tv/sony-ax53-4k-handycam-review/
These are some good options for you
Sony FDRAX53/B 4K HD
Sony FDR-AX33/B FDR-AX33B FDR-AX33
Sony HDR-CX430V High Definition Handycam Camcorder
Are these options for professional use or more hobbyist?
#I agree if you can push your budget slightly more I would get the Sony FDRAX53
So have you made up your mind? Do update us what model you bought and give us some pointers if it's a good buy or not. :=)
Don't forget to share your opinion with us , and maybe a sample of a video.
My pick would be Sony’s Alpha a6300. It was only released in March 2016 but has already received DP Reviews Gold award and reached #1 Best Seller status on Amazon.Forget about external 4k the a6300 support for internal UHD 4K30 & 1080p120 functionality. The a6300 uses the full 6K width of its sensor to sample video, which is then downsized to 4K. The quality is excellent, as are the supporting tools.
Thanks for the info robert, sounds promising
The cheapest 4K video camera from Panasonic costs $900 and uses a 1/2.3" sensor. Even a $3000 "Cinema" camcorder from Panasonic is still only using a 1/2.3" sensor. I.e. not much bigger than the sensor in a modern smart phone. The attached zoom lens is equivalent to f10-20.
Of course, Canon is using line skipping and pixel binning to such a large extent in the DSLRs that the advantage of the large APS-C sensor is completely squandered. The cheapest "video camera" from Canon that can do 4K is that funky XC10 thing for $2000.
The cheapest and best performing option for low light video is currently a Panasonic or Sony mirrorless camera. Both companies have options under $1000 and they create 4K using a sensor area 8 to 13 times larger than what a camcorder is using.
Sony’s FDRAX33 camcorder is really a video camera with photography as an add-on. For the best still image performance, it would be better to buy one of Panasonic’s highly rated G7 series.
I had good experiences with the HDR-CX430V from Sony. Definitely highly recommended for anyone looking for a budget 4k camera.
