What the DJI Ronin Can Offer and is it any good ?
If you want your camera to do more than just take pictures from standard angles the Ronin is just what you want. It is a new 3-axis hand-held gimbal system that fixes problems that are usually associated with brushless motor gimbals. It has been mainly developed for filmmakers, which means it is built with high quality standards, considering the rigorous demands of this particular profession. What DJI did was look into the existing system on market and then made improvements. Can the Ronin deliver?
“The DJI Ronin is the best steadycam I have used”
You’d be amazed at how well thought out the Dji Ronins gimbal system is. For one, set up can be performed in a matter of minutes and without any need of tools. You can make adjustments to the camera without using any tools (tool free adjustments). Add to this the quick-release feature, and you can take the system off and then mount it to various platforms, such as a multi-rotor or even a car platform. Balancing setup is also possible in just 5 minutes or less. To operate, simply hold the device in your hands and start shooting smooth and stable footage.

You can flip the Ronin in various orientations that make for easier head-level shooting. You can use it right-side up, which brings the gimbal to eye level, rather than be confined to just chest-level shots. What’s even more amazing is that the system knows you’re flipping the rig for easier filming.
Getting down to specifics…
Underslung mode
This is the default operation where the gimbal is at chest level and the camera is held low to the ground.
Upright Mode
This brings the camera closer to eye level without the need to lift it higher. This mode is perfect when shooting over a crowd of people or when placing a camera out of a car’s sunroof.
Briefcase Mode
You can rotate the Ronin to the side, so you can drag it alongside you, the same way you would a briefcase, allowing you to pass through doorways without causing any damage.
What other features make this gimbal system stand out?
• It has a clean setup, what with the minimal wires used. This enables you to film without the wires getting in the way.
• It comes with an auto-tune button on an iOS app that allows you to re-adjust or change the camera settings quickly. Simply tap the button on the app, and the whole system is tuned.
• It has a PC Assistant that allows you to control all the functionalities of the Ronin. This is in addition to the firmware upgrades that will come handy with future features.
• It can hold 16 lbs of payload, excluding the gimbal itself. Anyone who uses Red Dragon or Epic would be most impressed with this device.
Because of the built-in Auto Tune Stability technology, the Ronin can be tuned to the camera rig at the touch of a button. Once the camera is configured, it is ready to start shooting in 5 minutes or less. This saves a lot of time when used on set. Moreover, it has ultra-fast processors, accurate sensors and advanced algorithms.
