FUJIFILM Corporation has announced the release of the world’s smallest and most lightweight lens for 4K video production, the new FUJINON UA24×7.8BERD.
With just a total length approximately 220.5mm, it has achieved the label of being the smallest in the world. Combined with a weight of nothing more than approximately 1.98kg, it is also the lightest but with a capability to support 4K.
It features a high magnification zoom of 24x that covers a focal length from the wide angle of 7.8mm to 187mm. This makes the FUJINON UA24x7.8BERD perfect for shooting HD, realistic videos in moving and fast-paced situations, such as a press coverage and live sports broadcasting.
This new product from FUJIFILM is one of the latest additions to their 4K broadcast lens lineup, bringing the number to 8 models in total. The company now has the ability to cater to the various requirements for 4K production.
Lens Features of the FUJINON UA24×7.8BERD
With a higher magnification zoom and a focal length from a wider angle, the lens can capture a wide variety of scenes with an operability that is designed high-quality and mobility. Its size and length alone make it a handy lens.
When combined with a 4K camcorder, the burden of lugging it shoulder carrying style is reduced. In an age where 4K video is rapidly spreading but there is a noticeable lack of compact and lightweight 4K camcorder camera, the introduction of the smallest lens in the world for 4K production is nothing short of amazing.
With the FUJINON UA24x7.8BERD, you shoot using HDR (High Dynamic Range) because chromatic aberrations common in telephoto zooms have been thoroughly reduced.
4K Compatible with Advanced Optical Performance
The UA24x7.8BERD uses the latest optical design technology to prevent resolution degradation around the edges. It also helps control all types of aberrations. Together with the proprietary HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating) multi-layer coating applied on the lens, expect higher color reproducibility and level of transmittance.
When shooting using HDR, rich tones are reproduced even when shooting scenes in conditions where the contrast are stark and intense. With the advanced optical performance of the FUJINON UA24x7.8BERD, capturing images and videos in a stadium at dusk would look vibrant.
16-Bit Encoder and 9 Aperture Blades
The 16-bit encoder of the FUJINON UA24x7.8BERD creates output lens data of high-resolution and can be linked with a virtual studio system and other systems to expand the output. For instance, live action footage can be combined with CG images.
The 16-bit encoder simply makes it easier to process lens data, whether information about focal position or zoom.
The adoption of 9 aperture blades, on the other hand, makes it possible to achieve an aperture shape close to a circle. This allows for footage expressions that make use of a bokeh that is more natural.
Suffice to say that the FUJINON UA24x7.8BERD meets the criteria for being the best lens for bokeh.
Produced by a company known for eloquent, high-quality images, it should not come as a surprise that the new UA24x7.8 will be a celebrated product in the market. It is scheduled for release in January 2018.
