Whether you’re a big fan of DJI products or are simply looking for a decent drone, you’ll want to take a close look at the Phantom 4 Advanced. It’s the latest model in DJI’s product line and is set to take the world by storm with its exciting features. While it’s not exactly the cheapest model on the market, it can be worth the higher price tag with its powerful hardware and impressive specs.
Design
The Phantom 4 Advanced’s body is made of magnesium alloy and titanium alloy, which gives the airframe excellent rigidity while making the entire device tough and durable. It also reduces the drone’s weight; if you own the Phantom 4 or know someone who does, you’ll notice that the older drone is significantly heavier than the Phantom 4 Advanced.
Image Quality
If you’re looking for a drone that can take clear and sharp images, you won’t go wrong with choosing the DJI Phantom 4 Advanced. It comes with a one-inch, 20-megapixel CMOS sensor, which allows the onboard camera to shoot H.264 4K videos at 60 frames per second as well as H.265 4K videos at 30 frames per second — both with a bitrate of 100Mbps. The camera can also take Burst Mode stills at 14 frames per second, allowing you to effortlessly capture the perfect moment.
The Phantom 4 Advanced also comes with custom-engineered lens plus a mechanical shutter that removes rolling shutter distortion when the drone flies at high speed or when you shoot quick-moving subjects. Combined with the powerful CMOS sensor, these features ensure that the onboard camera captures every single image and that you’ll have plenty of data to work with during post-production.
Drone Performance
The DJI Phantom 4 Advanced can run for 30 minutes on a single charge, giving you plenty of time to capture excellent photos and videos. It also has a long-range control of up to 4.3 miles (or 7 km), which means you can transmit videos in real time — even when drone is a couple of miles away from your location.
But that’s not all: with its five vision sensors, the Phantom 4 Advanced has the ability to do forward-vision obstacle avoidance and two-directional obstacle sensing. It can “see” as far as 30 meters in front of it, veer away from obstacles within 15 meters, and even hover and brake when needed. As a result, you don’t have to worry about crashing your drone into trees and buildings and wasting your hard-earned cash.
Another thing that further improves the performance of the Phantom 4 Advanced is its intelligent flight functions. Draw, for example, instructs the drone to follow the flight path that you sketch on the controller’s screen, while ActiveTracks keeps your subject within the frame even when it’s running/driving/swimming/flying at fast speeds.
Remote Controller
If you’ve flown a drone before, you know how hard it is to see what you’re doing under the bright sunlight. The DJI Phantom 4 Advanced solves this problem with its remote controller, which has a built-in 5.5-inch 1080p screen with 1000 cd/m2 of brightness. This brightness level makes it easy for you to see and manage the controls on the screen even when you’re in the outdoors.
Price and Availability
