The Leica M10-P SC Asset camera has a pure sandblasted brass finish paired with probably the most beautiful kit lens in the world. This makes it the prettiest camera today, but its ultra-limited edition so there might not be one available in the market soon.
The Leica M10-P SC Asset camera doesn’t only come with a beautiful sandblasted brass finish that’s nothing like any other camera in the world, but it also comes with the Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH lens with the same finish and a vintage round lens hood.
If you’re a fan of vintage, you know that brass will discolor and age over the years. This means that each of the 30 limited edition Leica M10-P SC Asset cameras will be a completely unique piece that will surely be a coveted collector’s item over time.
The Leica M10-P SC Asset camera is a collaboration between Leica and SC Asset, a high-end real estate company in Thailand. The company’s CEO Natthaphong Khunakornwong has always been an avid camera collector.
After meeting up with Leica Thailand’s head Danai Sorakraikitikul, the project to create a camera that has all the features of a modern camera but the body of a vintage piece began. This is also the same reason that the Leica M10-P camera is only available in Thailand.
Modern Leica M10-P SC features
Although the Leica M10-P SC Asset camera has a vintage body, what lies beneath it is the same Leica M10-P body with a 3-inch touchscreen with 1.04 million dots, a 24-megapixel full-frame sensor and an ISO100-50,000 range.
The camera also features 5 frames per second burst mode, although it doesn’t have impressive JPGs. There is also no video capability on this camera, so if you’re looking for something that will really do the job in terms of taking excellent photos and videos, this might not be the best option for you.
The verdict for Leica M10-P SC
The Leica M10-P SC Asset camera is definitely a collector’s piece for the avid camera collector. In fact, its price may be a lot higher than other cameras that can do a better job feature-wise.
There has been no listed price for the Leica M10-P SC Asset anywhere on the market. And with only 30 pieces of this camera available, it’s most likely that it will cost more than an arm and a leg.
At the end of the day, the Leica M10-P SC Asset camera is a statement piece. It’s one of those area items that you can invest in if you have the money for it, and you’d be happy to have it displayed for many years.
But if you’re a serious photographer looking for a camera that really works, there are a lot of good options out there that cost a lot less.
