Sony HVR-HD1000U Review
The Sony HVR-HD1000U MiniDV 1080i High Definition Camcorder is a shoulder-mounted HDV camcorder that’s specifically designed by Sony for videographers who are looking for an affordable, easy-to-handle camera. It is ideal for wedding videography and other event work, as it is capable of recording on a standard MiniDV tape with a 1080i high-definition footage. In addition, the unit aims to ensure perfect shots for operators by fitting the camera with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens (10x zoom) along with a Super SteadyShotTM image stabilization.
Recent buyers of the HVR-HD1000U have found that this particular model offers some options that are worth appreciating. For one, it’s extremely easy to use, such that you need not worry about how you work the buttons. For another, it has several options for both manual and automatic modes, yet stills and videos can be simultaneously shot. And depending on your needs, you can easily select between SD and HD formats. Combine all these with its shoulder-mount design and its sophisticated system for optical stabilization and you have a camera that not only produces professional results, but also a professional appearance for the operator.
The HVR-HD1000U can also function effectively in both high- and low-light situations, such as filming in theaters. However, mixing channels in its on-board mic is a bit limited, although you can simply set levels in post or through an output-to-mixer board as if you’d tape for live performances.
