One of the best things about Fujifilm’s instax cameras is their old-school charm. Once you take a picture, it immediately gets printed out into a rectangular picture that you can display on the fridge after a few seconds. This functionality adds some spontaneity to your photography habits while giving you an escape from the editing frenzy offered by modern smartphones and digital cameras.
However, there are times when you want to do some editing before you print out your photo. There are also times when the instax’s image quality doesn’t really fit your needs. If you frequently find yourself in these scenarios, you no longer have to worry since you can now find a solution in the new instax SQUARE SQ10.
Basic Specifications
The instax SQUARE SQ10 is powered by a ¼-inch CMOS image sensor with 1920 × 1920 effective pixels and an ISO sensitivity of 100 to 1600. It comes with a F2.4 aperture, a fixed focal length of 28.5 mm, and a single autofocus system with an AF illuminator and contrast-detect TTL. It also has a programmed auto-exposure control and a 1/29500 to 1/2 second shutter speed in Auto mode.
The SQ10 can take around 50 pictures with its built-in memory. Fortunately, you can expand this with a microSD or microSDHC memory card, which can accommodate approximately 1,000 files for every 1 Gigabyte.
Features to Watch Out For
The specs can only tell you so much, so let’s get down to the good stuff. First things first: the instax SQUARE SQ10 is the first-ever hybrid instant camera that uses the Fujifilm “instax SQUARE” Instant Film to print pictures. If you’re a big fan of the square Polaroid photos that people took in the 1970s, you’ll love this camera because it replicates the look and feel of those vintage snapshots.
Aside from printing out square photographs, the instax SQUARE SQ10 also offers the following benefits:
Excellent image quality
The SQ10 is the first instax camera to be built with a digital image sensor and to have image processing technology. With these innovations, it can perform well even in low-light conditions and help you take clear, sharp images at all times.
Various shooting modes and image processing features
Want to zoom in on your subject, crop out an unsightly corner of the photo, or adjust the brightness? Now you can with the tools offered by the instax SQUARE SQ10. And it doesn’t stop there: it comes with two additional shooting modes — Bulb Mode and Double Exposure — to help you get your creative juices flowing. It also has 10 photo filters and vignette control to add visual interest and dramatic flair to your images.
Easy and intuitive operation
With a 3-inch LCD screen, taking photos from almost any angle can be a breeze. The dual shutter buttons on each side of the camera, along with its slim, ergonomic profile, make it easy for you to snap pictures with just one hand — even if you’re left-handed. The intuitively designed operation dial and buttons at the back of the camera allow you to edit your pictures in a quick and simple way.
