In celebration of the National Camera Day, Canon U.S.A. Inc. has introduced two new DSLR cameras – the EOS 6D Mark II and the EOS Rebel SL2. The former is for advanced-amateur photographers, while the latter is for entry-level photographers.
According to Yuichi Ishizuka, Canon U.S.A.’s president and COO, the release is a fitting way to commemorate the invention of the DSLR camera, which “forever changed how we view the world”.
The company is committed to its long-standing goal of “providing consumers with the photographic tools that match their developing skill levels as they continue to embrace their passion for photography”, he added. Their dedication gave birth to the two new DSLR cameras that provide photographers a wide range of camera options for all skill levels.
What’s new with the EOS 6D Mark II DSLR Camera?
After one day of using the EOS 6D Mark II in Yellowstone National Park, Canon Explorer of Light’s Adam Jones, an acclaimed nature photographer, gives the thumbs-up to the camera’s improvement over its predecessor, calling it a camera that landscape and nature photographers will most appreciate.
“Landscape and nature photographers will be very happy. The new and improved autofocus is way ahead of the previous generation and performed extremely well, even in very low-light situations”, he said.
The camera was designed with photography enthusiasts in mind, budding photographers that are looking to take their creative skills in the art to the next level by taking pictures using a Full-Frame CMOS sensor DSLR camera. This allows photographers to capture amazing portraits and landscapes of high-quality even under low light.
The EOS 6D Mark II comes with several enhancements from its predecessor the EOS 6D DSLR camera, which has been historically known to provide photographers the gateway to step up to the Full-Frame camera.
Some of the new features in the EOS 6D Mark II include:
- Full-frame CMOS Sensor at 26.2 Megapixel
- Up to 6.5 fps High-speed Continuous Shooting
- Dual Pixel CMOS AF with Phase-detection & Full HD 60p
- 3.0-inch LCD Vari-angle Touch Screen
- DIGIC 7 Image Processor, ISO 100-40000
- Built-in Wi-Fi®2, NFC3, Bluetooth®4, and GPS technology
The camera’s optical viewfinder also features a 45-point All Cross-type AF System. The device is also resistant to dust and water.
What’s new with the EOS Rebel SL2 DSLR Camera?
Small, light, and compact, the EOS Rebel SL2 is ideal for travel photography and for capturing special family moments. Despite its size, it has high-performance capability with enhancements that include:
- CMOS (APS-C) Sensor at 24.2 Megapixel
- Full HD 60p
- Dual Pixel CMOS AF
- DIGIC 7 Image Processor, ISO 100-25600

The EOS Rebel SL2 DSLR camera also has an external microphone input, feature assistant, and an optical viewfinder with a 9-point AF System.
Designed with feedback from entry-level photographers taken into consideration, this device provides entry-level photographers a convenient interface and user-friendly features, helping them step up from a smartphone or point-and-shoot camera without trepidation.
